Since I retired in 99, I had no idea things were declassified.  Got Steve's book; it's really well done; and it brought back a lot of memories from "way back when"
- when we were building the A-10 Weapons School, and everyone thought we would have problems with the Mig-17 - but the problem was the Mig-21.  I remember being in a slow speed scissors with Devil, and he was matching me knot for knot.  I asked him how slow he could get that thing, and he said "slow enough to gun you." (The 17s were easy.)
- when Postai took off on his first flight, and Buffalo turned around and said to me, "The Air Force has another Mig pilot"
- when I first encountered "Wierd Harold" - "met" just doesn't fit
- when we still had Friday nights at the club
- when the "look good in the showers" managers started showing up, and I got stopped outside Wing Headquarters for a "sock check"
- when we blew off steam doing crazy things (not getting permission to display a T-62 outside the 66th FWS, taking pictures of a topless lady in a Nellis scarf and standing by/on an Agressor T-38 - I still have those!)
- when we worked long hours - really long hours, flew hard and low - really low, and partied long
Thanks Steve, for bringing back the memories.................

John

Fantastic memories - please share more!

I'd love to know what brought an A-10 driver to TTR for Postai's first flight.

Glad you enjoyed the book, and welcome to the forums!

Cheers
